Summary: Eliot writes to Professor Huidekoper asking that he read the enclosed “statement” and share it with anyone he believes may be able to “forward our cause.” Eliot remarks that he believes the success of the enterprise “will do more for liberal culture and ultimately for the differences of Christian truth, than any other now in progress.” The enclosed, typed statement requests funding from New England for the endowment and permanent establishment of Washington University.
