Printed from microfilm, original not located. Summary: Samuel writes to William to say that he is sending a 234-pound box of supplies for the Contraband Relief Society. Included are 400 yards of fabric and sewing supplies so "negro women will be able to make up for themselves and their children in fashions that will suit them better than any clothes that would be made here." The women of Syracuse are organizing a new plan to send the Sanitary Commission $150 worth of supplies monthly. He also reports that the city is planning on observing the death of General Sumner, as he was very highly respected in the community. Samuel J. May in Syracuse William Greenleaf Eliot.
